The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority has introduced a new Transport Data Analysis Laboratory at the Enterprise Command and Control Centre, strengthening data-led transport management across the emirate.
Strengthening data-driven transport oversight
First, the new laboratory focuses on monitoring, collecting, and analyzing large volumes of transport data. As a result, it delivers specialized studies and reports that guide both strategic planning and daily operations. Moreover, it improves readiness for transport planning, major events, and emergency scenarios. In turn, this supports Dubai’s broader smart city ambitions and its leadership in sustainable mobility.
Integrated platform with predictive intelligence
Meanwhile, the laboratory reinforces EC3’s function as an integrated platform linking RTA control centers. Unifying operational monitoring within a single system enables artificial intelligence tools and predictive models for scenario analysis. Consequently, the platform supports proactive responses, improves efficiency, and shortens reaction times during high-demand periods and major events.
In addition, the system draws real-time data from more than 35 sources across multiple transport modes. These include public transport, marine services, taxis, soft mobility options, and private vehicles. Therefore, over 150 automated performance indicators now support planning accuracy, on-ground coordination, and policy evaluation.
Operational impact and safety insights
Furthermore, the laboratory has already demonstrated value through event-based analysis. During GITEX 2025, transport movement data was examined to identify congestion points and improve traffic flow around the exhibition area. As a result, the findings will inform planning for future peak seasons and large-scale events.
At the same time, advanced analytics are being used to identify locations with higher risks of recurring traffic accidents. Consequently, corrective measures are implemented in coordination with relevant entities. Overall, this approach contributes to improved road safety and smoother traffic movement across Dubai’s transport network.
