Dubai Police have warned the public to stay alert to fraudulent schemes involving fake work visas. The Anti-Fraud Centre noted that scammers often attract victims by promising jobs and visa sponsorships that have no legal basis. As a result, many individuals lose money while believing they are following a valid process.
This warning comes as part of an ongoing awareness drive aimed at reducing financial crimes. Officials stressed that the only legitimate and safe way to obtain a work visa is through official government channels or licensed recruitment agencies. Therefore, offers made by individuals or unauthorized intermediaries should be treated with caution.
Steps to protect yourself
To reduce the risk of falling victim, Dubai Police advised people to verify job and visa offers with relevant authorities before making any payment. Additionally, they recommended using only accredited offices, licensed recruitment agencies, and official government platforms when processing employment or visa documents.
Moreover, the public has been urged to remain cautious of individuals or social media accounts claiming to provide “guaranteed” visas or jobs outside legal procedures. Such promises are often a clear indicator of fraudulent intent.
How to report suspicious activity
Dubai Police encouraged anyone who encounters suspicious job or visa offers to report them promptly. Reporting helps protect others and strengthens community safety. Complaints can be submitted through the Dubai Police Smart App for quick mobile reporting. Alternatively, cases of online fraud can be reported via the eCrime platform.
In addition, individuals may call 901 for non-emergency inquiries and specialist assistance. Dubai Police reiterated that awareness and timely reporting play a crucial role in combating fraud and safeguarding the community.
