Dubai Launches GenDubAI to Promote Safe AI Use

Dubai has launched GenDubAI, a digital platform that helps parents guide children in using artificial intelligence safely, responsibly, and creatively. The Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) introduced the initiative in collaboration with the Community Development Authority (CDA) and Dubai Future Foundation.

Designed for families with children aged 8 to 15, GenDubAI provides practical guidance on AI tools, privacy, and responsible use. Moreover, the platform encourages parents and children to learn about AI together, helping families understand its benefits and risks. It is available in Arabic and English through a mobile-friendly interface.

The initiative supports Dubai’s Social Agenda 33 and the UAE’s Year of the Family. In addition, it reflects efforts to help younger generations develop digital skills while preserving family values and cultural identity.

Helping Parents Navigate Children’s AI Use

GenDubAI offers interactive educational content that explains AI concepts, tools, opportunities, and challenges. Furthermore, it addresses everyday questions about how children use AI for learning, homework, creativity, and personal conversations. The platform helps parents guide these activities while encouraging children to think critically about AI-generated information.

The platform also highlights privacy and responsible digital behaviour. For example, parents can learn how to discuss AI-generated images, protect personal information, and help children recognise the limitations of AI tools. Consequently, families can build healthier habits as AI becomes more common in education and everyday life.

GenDubAI follows a family-centred approach that encourages shared learning. Rather than treating AI awareness as a purely technical subject, the initiative encourages parents to make AI part of everyday conversations with their children.

Dubai Expands Family AI Literacy

Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director-General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai, said families and society have a responsibility to help young people engage with AI confidently and responsibly. She emphasised that awareness and strong values should accompany technological progress.

Meanwhile, Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation, highlighted the growing use of smart devices among children. He said parents need the knowledge to guide children towards AI’s benefits while understanding its potential risks.

Saeed Al Falasi, Executive Director of DCAI, described GenDubAI as a platform that places families at the centre of AI learning. He also explained that the initiative will evolve through new content, tools, and educational pathways as technology and family needs change.

The platform complements the UAE’s broader child digital safety framework, which addresses online risks, privacy, age-appropriate content, and parental guidance. Moreover, GenDubAI adds an educational approach by helping families understand AI and make informed choices about its use.

Ultimately, GenDubAI aims to make AI literacy more accessible to parents and children across Dubai. Its long-term value will depend on how effectively families use its guidance to encourage creativity, protect privacy, and build responsible digital habits.
