Dubai has launched the third edition of the Create Apps Championship, introducing new award categories, accelerator programs, and AED2.5 million ($680,000) in total funding. As the city continues strengthening its position in the digital economy, the initiative aims to attract top global tech talent and accelerate the creation of innovative applications. Moreover, the contest supports Dubai’s broader ambition to become a global hub for digital transformation.
The programme falls under the Create Apps in Dubai initiative, which focuses on building a strong innovation ecosystem and enabling the development of world-class digital solutions. Because of this, the emirate continues drawing creative talent and future-focused developers seeking global exposure and support.
The competition features four main categories: Best Youth App, Most Impactful App, Most Innovative App, and Longevity App of the Year. Winners in three categories will secure more than AED550,000 ($150,000) each, while the “App of the Year” winner—selected by public vote—will earn AED1 million ($272,000). Since earlier editions attracted more than 5,800 submissions and supported the development of over 55 smart applications, the programme has already contributed significantly to Dubai’s innovation landscape.
Advancing Digital Innovation and Talent Growth
Dubai’s ongoing economic and technological progress continues to be shaped by efforts to empower talent, foster pioneering digital solutions, and encourage sustainable long-term growth. Furthermore, the initiative supports the city’s strategic goals by helping developers create future-ready applications aligned with evolving global needs.
The emirate’s rise as a global hub for tech and innovation is reinforced by world-class infrastructure and agile regulatory frameworks that enable collaboration and support the creation of smart applications. Additionally, the programme helps strengthen Dubai’s competitiveness by providing developers with access to advanced capabilities, mentorship, and pathways to scale their products internationally.
New Awards and Accelerators to Boost App Development
This year’s edition includes the new Longevity App of the Year award, which highlights applications focused on wellbeing, sustainable health, fitness, and lifestyle. Because this category aligns with national priorities to enhance quality of life, it encourages developers to build solutions that support healthier and more resilient communities.
The programme also introduces an Alumni Accelerator designed for high-potential teams from previous competitions. As part of this initiative, 50 additional applications will receive development support and launch assistance. Moreover, participants will gain access to a dedicated hub offering training, mentorship, and expert guidance. As a result, teams can strengthen their concepts, scale their projects faster, and contribute to Dubai’s expanding digital innovation ecosystem.
