Dubai Health Authority adds AI to NABIDH for Data security

Dubai Health Authority integrates AI into NABIDH for enhanced patient data security.

In a significant step toward digital healthcare transformation, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has integrated artificial intelligence into its NABIDH platform. This system short for Network and Analysis Backbone for Integrated Dubai Health serves as a centralised electronic medical record accessible across healthcare providers in the city. The move is designed to improve patient data security while also enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of healthcare services.

AI’s incorporation into NABIDH reflects Dubai’s broader ambition of becoming the world’s smartest city. According to DHA, this integration will help build a safer and more streamlined digital healthcare ecosystem. Furthermore, the new system ensures that each patient has a unified medical file, reducing redundancy and enhancing treatment accuracy across hospitals and clinics.

A Strategic Shift Toward Smart Healthcare

The announcement came during a high-profile event attended by Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Director-General of DHA, and various experts from the healthcare and technology sectors. Al Ketbi reiterated that protecting patient data remains a top priority. He explained that the AI-enhanced NABIDH system can detect and prevent unauthorised data access in real time. As a result, trust between patients and healthcare providers is expected to grow stronger.

Importantly, the system is already demonstrating its reach. DHA has connected over 1,500 healthcare facilities and unified more than 9.53 million patient records. Moreover, 82% of Dubai’s healthcare professionals now actively use the platform. These figures suggest a strong uptake and signal DHA’s determination to lead in digital health innovation.

Building a Smarter, Safer Health Ecosystem

By embedding AI within NABIDH, DHA is not only addressing present challenges but also anticipating future needs. For instance, AI-driven analytics provide proactive monitoring capabilities, identifying data breaches before they escalate. This forward-thinking approach underlines DHA’s commitment to staying ahead of global standards in patient care and cybersecurity.

Additionally, DHA is working closely with strategic partners like Imprivata to maintain the system’s reliability and enhance functionality. Ultimately, this initiative stands as a key milestone in Dubai’s journey toward becoming a global hub for smart and secure healthcare solutions.
