Dubai Expat Launches Online Marketplace to Empower Young Mothers with Small Businesses

A British expat in Dubai has created an online marketplace aimed at supporting young mothers who balance career and family life. The platform, MINT Market, was founded in early November by Sally Maddison as a passion project to empower mothers to achieve fulfilling careers while staying connected to their children’s lives.

Maddison, alongside four other mothers, built the platform to cater to individuals who face challenges with traditional employment structures. Drawing inspiration from the need for flexible work opportunities after the Covid-19 pandemic, she aimed to create a space that allows women, especially young mothers, to manage their own businesses while fulfilling their parenting duties.

“I wanted to have a flexible working lifestyle that lets me be present with my children while still pursuing my career,” said Maddison. “This realization led me to create opportunities for women—though not exclusively, as men are also part of our network.”

MINT Market started as a simple initiative to attract visitors and provide local vendors a platform, but quickly expanded into a thriving business community. Today, the platform includes a database of 800 small businesses, with 100 new brands added every month. More than half of the products are proudly made in the UAE.
