du, Nokia and MediaTek achieve 6.3 Gbps 5G speeds in UAE

du 5G network speed test

du achieved a major breakthrough by reaching 6.3 Gbps peak downlink speed and 495 Mbps uplink speed on its live 5G network. The accomplishment sets a new global benchmark for next-generation mobile connectivity, and it demonstrates how quickly 5G performance continues to evolve. Since the milestone relies on an industry-first setup, it also reflects strong progress in the UAE’s digital infrastructure. The result came from aggregating four TDD carriers across 400 MHz of spectrum in the 3.5 GHz and 2.6 GHz bands for downlink, along with two TDD carriers for uplink. Because of this multi-carrier design, du can deliver ultra-high-speed connectivity for home wireless users and enterprise clients.

Collaboration Accelerates Technological Advancement

The speeds were achieved through coordinated work with Nokia and MediaTek. Their combined technologies enabled major improvements in network efficiency and spectrum use. Nokia provided commercial basebands and advanced massive MIMO radios powered by its chipset, which enhanced performance across multiple bands. MediaTek added its 5G Release-18 M90 modem platform, which helped unlock faster download speeds and stronger overall connectivity. Together, the partners demonstrated how multi-vendor innovation can translate directly into real-world performance gains.

Enabling the UAE’s Digital Future

The milestone arrives as global demand for AI-powered services, ultra-HD streaming, and real-time analytics increases. Consequently, the new carrier aggregation capabilities support smoother cloud access, faster file transfers, and enhanced streaming for everyday users. Enterprises benefit as well, since high-throughput connectivity is essential for AI workloads, mission-critical operations, and rapid data processing. This achievement strengthens the UAE’s position as a leader in advanced 5G infrastructure and aligns with national goals for a digitally driven, innovation-focused economy.
