DEWA Unveils AI Tools for Engineering, Project Planning

DEWA introduces AI tools to enhance engineering and project planning efficiency.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has introduced two new artificial intelligence (AI) tools aimed at transforming engineering workflows and project execution. The launch supports DEWA’s strategic vision to become the world’s first AI-native utility.

The newly developed tools — the Material Insights Agent and the BRD Generator are designed to assist engineering and technical teams. They accelerate planning and documentation, offering improved efficiency and clarity throughout project lifecycles.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, emphasized the strategic alignment with Dubai’s leadership. He said, “To achieve the vision and directives of our wise leadership for AI to be the cornerstone of future initiatives and services in Dubai, we leverage the latest technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, most notably artificial intelligence, to improve performance and productivity.”

AI Tools Enhancing Precision and Speed

The Material Insights Agent functions as a virtual photovoltaic expert. It provides real-time, data-driven insights to engineers during solar project design and execution. As a result, teams benefit from enhanced decision-making, improved implementation quality, and faster turnaround times.

Meanwhile, the BRD Generator employs generative AI to produce Business Requirements Documents. This automation simplifies the documentation process and supports teams in defining technical scopes more clearly. Consequently, the tool helps clarify both functional and non-functional requirements and streamlines communication.

Al Tayer also noted, “These two smart tools support our efforts to become the world’s first AI-native utility by integrating AI across all our operations. They not only reduce project timelines but also elevate the overall quality of deliverables, reinforcing DEWA’s global leadership in the energy and water sectors.”

Commitment to Innovation and Sustainability

This initiative reflects DEWA’s continued investment in cutting-edge technology. As part of a broader roadmap, the integration of AI plays a central role in achieving operational excellence and long-term sustainability goals. By embracing the latest in digital innovation, DEWA strengthens its position as a forward-looking utility that adapts rapidly to emerging industry demands.
