His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), recently visited DEWA’s Innovation Centre. He was there to review achievements and plans in visitor engagement, strategic collaborations, and professional training programmes. Accompanying him were Waleed Bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA, and other DEWA officials.
During the visit, Dr Aaesha Abdulla Alnuaimi, Director of the Innovation Centre, briefed Al Tayer on the Centre’s key achievements. The Innovation Centre has become a hub for knowledge dissemination and professional development. It is committed to advancing sustainability, renewable energy, and innovation in Dubai.
Al Tayer praised the Innovation Centre’s achievements, highlighting Dubai’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. The centre at DEWA educates and inspires future generations, fosters innovation, and supports the global transition to a green economy. It hence plays a crucial role in raising public awareness about sustainability and green initiatives in Dubai. The Centre has also attracted thousands of visitors, including the general public, students, and high-level delegations. It has significantly contributed to Dubai’s environmental education efforts.
The Centre has trained and certified over 120 professionals in sustainability and renewable energy. Upcoming training sessions will focus on sustainability, innovation, digital transformation, and renewable energy. This reinforces Dubai’s position as a leader in green energy.
The Centre also conducts the annual summer programme, CleanTech Youth, to nurture future leaders in clean energy. Over three cycles, the program has graduated 75 students, with a fourth cycle planned for 2024. The CleanTech Roadshow reaches out to students at schools and universities, providing insights into clean energy initiatives.
The Innovation Centre organized the CleanTech Hackathon, attracting 160 applications and accepting 50 participants from 20 universities and 25 countries. It also hosted a cleantech innovators exhibition featuring innovations from 15 notable companies, drawing 1,500 visitors.
To promote collaboration and knowledge sharing, the Centre organized the Cleantech Connect Programme. Additionally, this initiative brought together innovators, achievers, and researchers in clean energy to share their successes. The program also included panel discussions, lectures, and specialized workshops, conducted in partnership with major local and international universities, startups, and companies.
