ChatGPT Work Can Now Log Into Websites and Complete Tasks Automatically

ChatGPT Work logs into websites

ChatGPT Work can now log into websites and complete tasks on a user’s behalf. The new capability removes one of the biggest barriers facing agentic AI tools: accessing accounts that require personal credentials.

ChatGPT Work Can Handle Logged-In Tasks

Previously, users often had to take over when an AI task required an account login. Now, ChatGPT Work can use credentials stored in a supported third-party password manager.

For example, you could ask it to book a DMV appointment for you. ChatGPT Work can then access your account and handle much of the process without requiring constant input.

When a task requires a login, a new window asks you to select the password manager you want to use. However, some websites may still require additional security steps. Two-factor authentication, for instance, could require your involvement.

Importantly, OpenAI says it will not see or record your username or password. Therefore, those credentials will not be used without permission or for training its AI tools.

However, logged-in sessions may remain active for future tasks. If you want to stop this for a particular service, you can go to Settings > Cloud browser > Browser data and select the website you want ChatGPT to forget.

The Feature Is Limited to Paid Plans

For now, the new login capability is available only to ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers. There is no confirmed timeline for free users, although that could change later.

In addition, free users are gaining access to task scheduling tools. These tools allow users to schedule prompts for a later time, with free accounts supporting up to three active tasks.

Meanwhile, paid ChatGPT users can trigger requests when activity changes across services such as GitHub, Gmail, or Slack. For example, ChatGPT can automatically summarize emails about selected topics when those messages arrive.

Overall, the updates push ChatGPT further toward acting as an autonomous digital assistant. Instead of simply generating information, it can increasingly access services, respond to changes, and complete multi-step tasks for users.
