The artificial intelligence company has announced a one-year free offer for its ChatGPT Go plan as part of its first DevDay Exchange event in India. This offer aims to make advanced AI tools more accessible to Indian users, supporting the growing demand for intelligent productivity solutions.
The Go plan was first launched in August as a budget-friendly alternative to the Plus subscription. It is priced at Rs. 399 per month, significantly lower than the Rs. 1,950 charged for the Plus plan. However, Indian users can now access it free of cost for the next 12 months. This move enhances AI inclusivity while allowing more users to explore advanced features without financial barriers.
Benefits of the ChatGPT Go Plan
Positioned between the free and tiers, the ChatGPT Go plan brings a range of valuable upgrades. While it doesn’t include advanced features such as video generation or Codex agent access, it offers ten times higher rate limits for messages, image generation, and file uploads.
The plan is especially beneficial for frequent users who need consistent access to the latest GPT-5 model. It also includes expanded capabilities for Python and data analysis, making it suitable for professionals and creators. Additionally, it provides access to projects, tasks, and custom GPTs—tools that help users organize workflows, monitor progress, and build personalized AI experiences.
Steps to Activate ChatGPT Go for Free
Activating the free Go plan is simple and can be completed within minutes. Users must first log in to their ChatGPT account through the web platform, as the offer is not currently available on mobile apps. After logging in, a pop-up titled “Try Go, Free” will appear.
Selecting the Try Go button redirects users to the pricing page, where the Go plan is listed at Rs. 0. Clicking “Upgrade to Go” takes users to the payment screen, allowing them to confirm the Rs. 0 transaction using UPI, credit or debit cards, or bank transfer. Once completed, the plan becomes active instantly. Users are advised to turn off autopay to prevent future charges after the 12-month free period ends.
This initiative not only strengthens ChatGPT’s presence in India but also empowers individuals and businesses to explore AI-driven innovation with greater flexibility and convenience.
