As AI-generated content becomes increasingly common across social media platforms, AI-first companies are adapting quickly. Character.AI is the latest to join this trend by adding a social feed to its mobile apps. The feature, already live on the web since June, is designed to encourage more sharing and interaction among users.
Now, users can post images, videos, and chatbot content directly to the feed. In addition, they can share chat snippets, generate AI-based images from their conversations, or even livestream their characters debating various topics. This approach not only encourages creativity but also fosters a sense of digital community.
To make the experience more dynamic, the feed supports Character.AI’s AvatarFX video generation tool. With it, users can create video clips using text prompts and images, then share them instantly. As a result, creators gain more tools to express themselves and expand their stories.
A Shift Toward Creator-Driven AI Platforms
Character.AI aims to blur the line between content creator and viewer. CEO Karandeep Singh explained the vision behind the new feature:
“With our new Feed, the boundary between creator and consumer is disappearing. You can come to Feed for a lean-back experience and watch content from our amazing creators but you can also take the story forward or create a new epic adventure,” he said.
This reflects a broader industry movement. Increasingly, AI platforms are evolving from simple utilities into vibrant hubs for storytelling and engagement. The new social feed is a natural step toward that goal.
Competition Heats Up in AI-Powered Social Features
Although Character.AI’s update is significant, it’s not alone in this space. In July, the video-generation app Pika introduced its own social experience. The invite-only platform allows users to create and share AI-generated videos, signaling growing demand for creative AI tools within a social framework.
Because of this emerging trend, AI-native platforms are likely to continue expanding their social features. As user interest in content creation grows, so does the need for tools that enable richer, more interactive storytelling.
