In a defining moment for sports and health advocacy in the region, ASICS is proudly backing six remarkable athletes from the UAE as they prepare to compete at the World Transplant Games 2025 in Dresden, Germany. Scheduled for August, the event brings together transplant recipients and living donors from around the globe. For the first time, the UAE will be represented on this prestigious platform. Not only does this mark a breakthrough in international recognition, but it also underscores the transformative power of sport in healing and awareness.
Celebrating Strength, Spirit, and Second Chances
The World Transplant Games go beyond traditional athletic competition. They serve as a global celebration of human endurance, recovery, and the profound impact of organ donation. Thousands of participants—including transplant recipients, living donors, and their supporters gather to highlight stories of resilience and the role of movement in mental and physical healing. In this spirit, ASICS is supporting six UAE athletes who embody these values. Each athlete has overcome medical adversity, now standing as a symbol of hope and determination. Their presence reflects not just personal triumphs but a growing regional movement that honors the gift of life.
Aligning Sport with Purpose and Community
ASICS’ sponsorship aligns with its core belief in “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano” a sound mind in a sound body. As a brand rooted in performance and wellbeing, ASICS continues to invest in inclusive innovation and purpose-driven initiatives. Through this partnership, the company affirms its global mission to use sport as a tool for recovery, connection, and empowerment.
The UAE’s team includes a diverse group of athletes: Katie Larkins, a liver transplant recipient and educator, leads the team while promoting organ donation and youth wellness; Omar “OT” Tom, a two-time kidney transplant recipient and sprinter, uses his story to inspire future athletes; Fatima Rashid, also a kidney recipient, advocates for mental health through her participation; Justin Anthony, a double lung transplant recipient, competes in throwing and bowling events to embrace his second chance at life; Husena Beguwala, a filmmaker and lung transplant survivor, runs to raise awareness for rare diseases; and Hind Juma, a living kidney donor, proudly represents her journey of saving her mother’s life.
This effort is part of ASICS’ broader sustainability and innovation agenda. Rather than focusing solely on product design, the brand continues to empower local communities and promote holistic health. Through its support of Team UAE, ASICS hopes to motivate people across the region to embrace movement as a pathway to personal and collective wellbeing. In doing so, it honors the everyday heroes who remind us that resilience and purpose can thrive through every step forward.
