Apple Unveils iPhone 17 Series With Slimmer Air Model and A19 Chips
The iPhone 17 launch is set for 9 September 2025 at the “Awe Dropping” event, streamed live at 10:30 PM IST. Pre-orders in India are expected to begin on 12 September, with sales starting on 19 September. The lineup includes the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
This year, all four models are expected to ship with iOS 26 and feature A19 or A19 Pro processors, which bring incremental performance improvements. Even the base iPhone 17 is likely to gain ProMotion 120Hz displays, a feature previously limited to Pro variants. The design language remains familiar, but the camera layout is shifting vertically. At the same time, the iPhone 17 Air stands out as the thinnest phone yet, measuring just 5.5 mm.
Price Expectations in India
Pricing in India is expected to climb compared to last year’s series. Estimates suggest the iPhone 17 could start at around ₹89,990. The iPhone 17 Air may cost close to ₹99,990, while the iPhone 17 Pro could be priced at approximately ₹1,24,990. The iPhone 17 Pro Max, positioned as the flagship, may carry a hefty price tag of about ₹1,64,990.
Although official pricing will be revealed during the event, early projections place the new lineup firmly in the premium smartphone bracket. This signals a continuation of Apple’s strategy of incremental but targeted upgrades to justify higher costs.
