Apple Unveils Free Enterprise Platform to Challenge Google and Microsoft

Apple Business dashboard on laptop screen

Apple has introduced Apple Business, an all-in-one enterprise platform that brings together its business tools into a single dashboard. As a result, organizations can now access mobile device management at no cost worldwide. The platform will launch on April 14 across more than 200 countries and regions.

Notably, this move signals a stronger push into the enterprise market. While competitors charge per user, the platform includes free email, calendar, and device management tools. Therefore, it positions itself as a cost-effective alternative for businesses seeking integrated solutions.

Combining Services and Expanding Features

Apple Business merges three existing services into one unified system. Specifically, it integrates Apple Business Manager, Apple Business Essentials, and Apple Business Connect. Consequently, businesses can manage devices, users, branding, and support from a single interface.

At the same time, existing customer data will automatically transfer to the new platform. Additionally, mobile device management, previously a paid feature, will now be free. As a result, current subscribers will no longer pay monthly fees after the launch date.

The platform also introduces Blueprints, which simplifies device setup. With this feature, IT teams can preconfigure apps and settings before employees receive devices. Thus, new hardware becomes ready for immediate use.

“We’ve unified Apple’s strongest business offerings into one simple, secure platform, delivering key features for organisations in every stage and sector, including built-in device management, collaboration tools, and additional ways to reach new customers,” said Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Enterprise and Education Marketing.

Targeting Startups and Expanding Reach

In addition, the platform offers hosted email, calendar, and directory services with custom domain support for up to 500 users. Businesses can either purchase a domain or connect an existing one. Each account includes 5GB of free storage, while higher tiers offer expanded capacity.

Moreover, the service supports cross-platform standards, allowing use on Android and Windows devices. Therefore, it extends beyond a single ecosystem and increases accessibility.

Industry observers suggest the platform mainly targets startups and small businesses. For example, new companies can set up devices, email, and collaboration tools in one place without extra cost. Meanwhile, the companion app and core features will require the latest operating systems.

Finally, the platform retains brand management capabilities. As a result, businesses can control how they appear across maps, voice assistants, and digital services, strengthening their overall presence.
