Apple iPhone 17, iPhone Air, Watches and AirPods Launched
Apple introduced a strong design shift at its event, and the emphasis went beyond aesthetics. Consequently, the lineup centers on thinner profiles and rethought internals. For example, the new iPhone Air measures just 5.6mm, and this required a complete internal redesign.
Moreover, the Air achieves a slim body by removing the physical SIM slot, while still preserving a practical battery size. In addition, the Air runs on A19 Pro silicon, which outperforms the base iPhone configuration. Finally, the iPhone 17 series also adopts a rectangular camera plateau and improved vapor-cooled thermals.
Performance, cameras, and wearables
The iPhone 17 offers a ProMotion display and up to 3,000 nits of brightness, and it uses a 3nm A19 processor. Furthermore, the primary camera is a 48MP dual-fusion system that delivers higher resolution than the previous model. In addition, the front Centrestage camera is an 18MP square sensor designed for landscape selfies without rotating the phone. Meanwhile, Pro models expand photographic options with a larger sensor and longer optical reach. Specifically, the new fusion telephoto provides 4x at 100mm and 8x at 200mm, supported by enhanced stabilization and a revamped photonic engine.
Additionally, Pro video workflows now include ProRes RAW and advanced machine-learning enhancements. On the audio and wearables front, AirPods Pro gained live translation, heart-rate sensing, and longer battery life. Similarly, the Apple Watch Series 11 adds 5G support, a thinner design, and a blood-pressure monitoring feature. In addition, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 introduces satellite connectivity, Emergency SOS, and extended battery life.
Pricing and availability
Pricing varies across models and storage tiers, and regional prices were announced at launch. For reference, the iPhone 17 (256GB) starts at Rs 82,900, while the ultra-thin iPhone Air (256GB) begins at Rs 1,19,900. The iPhone 17 Pro (256GB) starts at Rs 1,34,900, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max (256GB) is listed at Rs 1,49,900. In wearables, the Apple Watch Series 11 (42mm) is Rs 46,900, the Apple Watch Ultra (49mm) is Rs 89,900, and the Apple Watch SE (40mm) is Rs 25,900. Finally, the upgraded AirPods 3 are priced at Rs 25,900.
