ADHM Platform Launched to Improve Hazardous Materials Safety

Officials launch the ADHM Platform to manage hazardous materials in Abu Dhabi.

The Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre (ADHMMC) has introduced the Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Platform (ADHM), a strategic digital system designed to improve the handling, transport, and storage of hazardous materials. This platform enhances public safety and environmental protection while supporting Abu Dhabi’s global standing in hazardous materials oversight.

Serving as a unified reference point, the platform houses one of the world’s most detailed hazardous substances databases. It provides classification, risk descriptions, and awareness content. Additionally, it aligns with global frameworks such as the NIH and the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), further reinforcing its international relevance.

The ADHM platform strictly follows the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and complies with occupational health and safety regulations. Moreover, it contributes to broader sustainability goals by supporting clean energy, public health, and economic development sectors.

His Excellency Major General Ahmed Saif bin Zaitoon Al Muhairi, Abu Dhabi Police Commander-in-Chief, stated, “The launch of Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Platform (ADHM) marks a key milestone in creating a safe environment by providing a comprehensive regulatory framework for hazardous materials management. It strengthens society’s trust and meets the needs of vital sectors across the country.”

His Excellency Khalfan Abdulla Almansoori, Acting Director General of Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre, added, “At Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre, we aim to promote sustainable development by establishing a comprehensive legislative framework that reinforces the Emirate’s position as a safe environment regionally and internationally in the field of hazardous materials management.”

Platform Enhances Safety and Informed Decision-Making

Designed with technical precision, the platform delivers detailed data on the physical and chemical properties of hazardous substances. Furthermore, it outlines best practices for storage, transport, and safe handling. By offering tailored PPE recommendations, the system ensures optimal protection for workers and handlers.

Although primarily regulatory in nature, the platform also promotes public awareness. It strengthens health and safety standards while guiding both public and private sector decisions. Through real-time access to a locally developed database, it allows for faster, informed responses to material-related risks.

Advancing Sustainability Through Digital Integration

Easily accessible through the official ADHMMC website, the platform supports Abu Dhabi’s ambition to lead in hazardous materials management both regionally and globally. In addition, it reinforces the Centre’s pledge to update policies and legislation, ensuring all data remains current and aligned with international standards.

This initiative reflects a proactive approach to environmental responsibility, public health, and regulatory excellence, showcasing Abu Dhabi’s commitment to building a safer and more sustainable future.
