A senior delegation from Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), led by Chairman Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, concluded an official visit to South Korea. The mission focused on strengthening bilateral ties in next-generation infrastructure, sustainable mobility, and urban innovation.

During the visit, the delegation held high-level meetings with Korean officials, reinforcing the Friendship City Agreement signed last year. The discussions emphasized collaboration in transit-oriented development, digital twin technologies, and data-driven civic operations to enhance future city planning and governance.

Engagement at the World Smart City Expo

The delegation participated in the World Smart City Expo (WSCE) 2025 in Busan, held from July 15 to 17 under the theme ‘Next City For All.’ The event showcased Busan’s achievements in urban modernization and highlighted advanced approaches to metropolitan development.

The Expo also provided a platform to explore intelligent transport systems, climate-resilient infrastructure, and adaptable urban spaces. Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport was honored with the WSCE Contribution Award for its role in supporting the event’s success.

Expanding Partnerships Through Seminars and Dialogues

Alongside the Expo, the delegation attended the Urban Development & Smart Mobility Seminar with Korean ministries, corporations, and research institutes. The sessions centered on governance, sustainable development, and smart city solutions.
