In a landmark move, the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) has partnered with Presight and AIQ to accelerate digital transformation within the emirate’s energy sector. Signed during the World Utilities Congress 2025, the agreement outlines a comprehensive strategy to integrate artificial intelligence and data-driven solutions into energy and utility operations.
The initiative includes the development of AD.WE, an advanced AI-powered control center platform. This system will deliver live analytics across Abu Dhabi’s energy and utilities landscape, helping stakeholders make informed decisions in real time. Additionally, an ‘AI Lab-as-a-Service’ will allow local energy firms to test, validate, and deploy AI tools tailored to a range of operational scenarios.
Building a Centralized Data and AI Ecosystem
Another key element of the agreement involves the creation of a unified data hub. This hub will centralize information from the DoE and its partners, offering a reliable single source of truth for all sector-related data. Through this, organizations can securely access and utilize insights, improving workflow efficiency and enhancing decision-making.
Moreover, the collaboration aims to establish a global center for AI innovation in energy governance. This facility will focus on developing tailored AI models that support data sharing, process optimization, and secure information retrieval. It will also foster collaboration in research and upskilling, further advancing local expertise in energy-focused AI applications.
The initiative doesn’t stop there. It also supports Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals by embedding AI-driven sustainability practices into daily operations. Consequently, energy companies in Abu Dhabi will be better equipped to meet environmental targets while boosting productivity.
Leadership Perspectives on the Future
Dr. Abdulla Humaid Al Jarwan, Chairman of the DoE, emphasized that this partnership delivers “innovative, AI-based solutions that add value across electricity, water, cooling, and petroleum services.” He also noted that the sector’s data archive, dating back to 1958, enables powerful historical analysis for smarter solutions.
Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Adel Al Sharji, COO of Presight, highlighted the potential to set a global benchmark in smart energy management. Meanwhile, AIQ’s Acting Managing Director, Magzhan Kenesbai, expressed pride in contributing to a vision where AI becomes central to managing energy systems at scale.
Together, these organizations are not only reshaping Abu Dhabi’s energy future but also setting the pace for global innovation in the sector.
