Abu Dhabi Aviation and Archer Aviation Partner to Launch First eVTOL Fleet
Abu Dhabi Aviation Group (ADA) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Archer Aviation to introduce the world’s first fleet of Midnight electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The deployment will begin this year, marking a significant step toward sustainable urban air mobility.
A New Era of Air Mobility
This initiative is part of Archer’s global “Launch Edition,” which was introduced in Abu Dhabi through a partnership with ADA. Supported by the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the collaboration ensures a safe and efficient rollout of air taxi services across the region.
To bring this vision to life, ADA and Archer will develop a structured plan to introduce Midnight in early-adopter markets. This approach will help refine operational expertise, generate revenue, and establish long-term demand. Additionally, Archer will provide ADA with experienced pilots, engineers, and technicians to ensure a smooth transition. The company will also integrate a software system, including a booking application, to streamline urban air mobility operations.
eVTOL: Commitment to Innovation and Sustainability
The MoU signing was attended by Nader Al Hammadi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Aviation, and Badr Al Olama, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO). During the event, ADA confirmed its commitment to funding the deployment of Midnight, making it the first operator of electric air taxis in the region.
“We have closely followed the advancements in eVTOL technology and are excited to bring this innovation to the UAE,” said Al Hammadi. “As the largest helicopter operator in the Middle East, Abu Dhabi Aviation has the expertise to develop a scalable urban air mobility service. This partnership marks a new chapter in regional aviation, starting in Abu Dhabi.”
Adam Goldstein, CEO and founder of Archer, emphasized the collaboration’s importance. “The Launch Edition marks the next phase for Archer. This partnership will help bring Midnight from manufacturing to commercial operations. We appreciate Abu Dhabi Aviation for being our first Launch Edition customer, and we look forward to an exciting year ahead,” he stated.

Archer aims to redefine city travel by replacing long car commutes with short, efficient air taxi flights. Midnight, a piloted four-passenger aircraft, is designed to perform consecutive trips with minimal charging time. As a result, passengers will experience a safe, quiet, and sustainable alternative to traditional transportation.
By implementing this technology, Abu Dhabi is positioning itself as a leader in urban air mobility. With sustainability at its core, the introduction of eVTOL aircraft will reduce congestion and emissions while offering a faster and more efficient travel solution.
