AiMed Solutions and Proximie Sign AI Surgery Partnership

AiMed Solutions, Burjeel Holdings’ healthcare technology platform, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Proximie to develop AI-powered surgical solutions. Announced on October 22, 2026, at the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit, the partnership aims to improve operating room efficiency and clinical decision-making.

The agreement establishes a four-stage development programme focused on intelligent operating rooms. It also builds on Proximie’s surgical intelligence platform, already running across 10 operating rooms at Burjeel Medical City in Abu Dhabi. The initiative supports Burjeel’s ONE OR programme, which outlines 45 functional requirements for improving surgical operations.

Four Stages of AI-Powered Surgical Development

The first stage will give surgical teams real-time information about operating room performance. Through shared screens and mobile devices, staff can monitor progress, identify delays, and receive alerts about upcoming tasks. AI-supported clinical documentation will also help teams coordinate activities throughout the surgical day.

The second stage will introduce agentic AI, workflow monitoring, surgical safety checklists, and bed management tools. These capabilities aim to improve productivity and help hospital teams manage resources more effectively. As a result, staff may gain clearer visibility into operational bottlenecks and the next steps required.

The third stage will extend the technology to endoscopy, cardiac catheterisation laboratories, and interventional radiology. Meanwhile, the programme will improve coordination of the patient journey and communication with families. The fourth stage will focus on tracking surgical instruments and advanced clinical, operational, and financial performance indicators.

Combining Clinical Expertise With Surgical Intelligence

The partnership brings together AiMed Solutions’ expertise in healthcare systems, clinical workflow transformation, and AI integration with Proximie’s surgical intelligence technology. Furthermore, AiMed will work with Proximie and Burjeel’s clinical teams to develop solutions that address practical operating room needs.

Proximie’s platform operates in more than 700 operating rooms worldwide. It combines data from ambient sensors, medical devices, and electronic medical records to provide real-time visibility into surgical activity. Its AI models can identify potential delays and recommend next steps across the surgical journey.

Safeer Ahamed, Group Head of Shared Services at Burjeel Holdings, said the collaboration would bring clinical expertise directly into development. He emphasised the goal of creating practical, scalable solutions for surgical care. Meanwhile, Proximie founder and CEO Dr Nadine Hachach-Haram highlighted the importance of helping teams understand operating room activity and anticipate what needs to happen next.

The initiative reflects a wider effort to apply AI to hospital operations and surgical workflows. However, the partners will need to evaluate how the new capabilities perform in practice. Ultimately, the programme aims to improve coordination, use operating room capacity more efficiently, and support better-informed clinical decisions.
