Instagram has introduced an AI video assistant for Edits, its video editing platform designed for creators.
The conversational AI tool aims to provide personalized feedback instead of general recommendations. Additionally, it combines account performance data, audience activity, trends, and engagement patterns to offer more useful insights.
The tool analyzes information such as views, follows, video retention, likes, shares, comments, and audience interests. As a result, creators can identify patterns in content performance that may be difficult to notice through basic metrics.
Furthermore, the AI assistant is designed to support analysis rather than replace creative decision-making. Therefore, creators can continue controlling their ideas, style, and final content choices.
Creator support and AI competition
Previously, Instagram previewed the AI assistant during an invite-only creator event in June. At the same time, the company announced plans for a desktop version of the Edits app.
However, Instagram is not the only platform developing AI-powered tools for video creators. YouTube recently announced a conversational video editing tool that will allow users to make edits through natural language instructions.
Meanwhile, Instagram’s approach appears focused on analytics and performance insights. In contrast, YouTube’s upcoming tool appears aimed at helping creators complete editing tasks directly.
Usage limits and subscriptions
Creators will have limits on how much they can use the AI assistant. However, additional access will be available through a subscription plan.
Overall, the new feature provides creators with another way to understand audience behavior and improve video strategies while maintaining control over their creative process.
