SAL and Huawei Explore Saudi Logistics Partnership
Saudi Arabia’s SAL Logistics Services and Huawei Tech Investment Saudi Arabia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore joint opportunities in logistics and digital transformation. The companies signed the agreement in Shanghai in September 2026.
The partnership will examine smart logistics solutions for the Saudi market. In particular, the companies will explore Huawei technologies including 5G, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and green energy.
The initiative also supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals for logistics and digital transformation. Meanwhile, SAL will bring its logistics network and supply chain expertise to the potential collaboration.
SAL and Huawei Target Smart Logistics
Under the MoU, SAL and Huawei will explore joint solutions across transportation, logistics and digital transformation. The companies will also assess technologies that can help digitize logistics zones and improve operational efficiency.
The partnership will also examine modern communications and computing systems for cargo facilities and logistics zones. As a result, the proposed solutions could support more connected, data-driven logistics operations.
SAL and Huawei will also explore establishing an inventory and distribution hub in Saudi Arabia. The facility would support Huawei’s requirements while using SAL’s operational capabilities and logistics network.
In addition, the companies will consider making SAL an approved logistics services provider for Huawei in the Kingdom. Consequently, the agreement could create broader commercial and operational opportunities for both companies.
The two sides will combine SAL’s logistics and supply chain capabilities with Huawei’s digital infrastructure expertise. As a result, they aim to develop integrated services that can improve logistics efficiency across Saudi Arabia.
AI and Cloud Support Logistics Digitalization
Artificial intelligence will be among the technologies under consideration. Moreover, Huawei’s cloud computing and 5G capabilities could support real-time data exchange across logistics operations.
Huawei already offers smart logistics solutions based on cloud, edge computing, big data and IoT technologies. Its Smart Logistics Hub solution can connect multiple logistics campuses through a unified cloud management platform.
Therefore, similar technologies could support greater visibility across warehouses, transportation links and logistics facilities. However, the MoU does not confirm which Huawei products or systems SAL will deploy.
Green energy technologies will also feature in the companies’ exploration. Consequently, the partnership could eventually combine digital logistics infrastructure with technologies designed to improve energy efficiency.
The agreement does not establish a specific investment value or confirm a commercial deployment timeline. Instead, it provides a framework for both companies to evaluate potential projects and services.

Huawei, for its part, has expanded its focus on intelligent logistics and industrial AI in Saudi Arabia. At LEAP 2026, the company highlighted AI, cloud and data infrastructure as foundations for industrial digital transformation.
For Saudi Arabia, the SAL-Huawei agreement adds another technology partnership to the Kingdom’s expanding logistics ecosystem. Smarter cargo facilities and supply chains could also support Saudi Arabia’s ambition to become a global logistics hub.
For the wider GCC, the partnership also highlights the growing convergence of logistics, connectivity and AI. As regional trade and e-commerce expand, companies increasingly need digital infrastructure that can connect physical supply chains with real-time data.
Consequently, the SAL-Huawei MoU could lay the groundwork for new logistics services in Saudi Arabia. However, both companies must complete further assessments before specific solutions, facilities or commercial services move into deployment.
