xAI Launches Free Grok Google Workspace Add-On
xAI has introduced a free Grok add-on for Google Workspace, allowing users to access its AI assistant directly within Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. The launch follows the company’s recent expansion into Microsoft 365 and marks another step in Grok’s push into workplace productivity. Consequently, users can interact with Grok without leaving their documents or spreadsheets.
The add-on is available through the Google Workspace Marketplace and requires only a single installation to work across the supported Google applications. Moreover, xAI says the integration simplifies everyday tasks such as writing, summarizing, brainstorming, data analysis, and presentation creation.
Grok Brings AI Assistance to Docs, Sheets and Slides
The new add-on embeds Grok directly into Google Workspace, giving users conversational AI capabilities inside their existing workflows. Therefore, users can generate text, refine documents, explain spreadsheet formulas, analyze data, and create presentation content without switching between multiple applications.
The integration currently supports Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides through a unified installation. In addition, the add-on provides access to Grok 4.5, xAI’s latest flagship AI model, enabling advanced reasoning and content generation across productivity tasks.
Expanding Beyond Microsoft 365
The Google Workspace release comes shortly after xAI introduced Grok add-ins for Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. As a result, Grok now operates across both of the world’s leading productivity ecosystems, competing directly with Microsoft’s Copilot and Google’s Gemini.
Although the Workspace add-on is free to install, some advanced capabilities require an eligible Grok subscription. Nevertheless, the free integration lowers the barrier for users who want to test Grok within their daily workflows before upgrading.
xAI Strengthens Enterprise AI Strategy
The launch reflects xAI’s broader strategy of expanding Grok beyond its standalone web, mobile, and X platforms into enterprise productivity software. Furthermore, the company has introduced additional features such as Connectors, which allow Grok to interact with emails, calendars, presentations, and spreadsheets across multiple business applications.
As competition among workplace AI assistants continues to intensify, xAI is positioning Grok as a cross-platform alternative for business users.
