Google is expanding AI Mode by allowing users to connect personal Google services, making Search responses more personalized and context-aware. The new capability enables AI Mode to draw information from apps such as Gmail while delivering answers tailored to an individual’s data and preferences. As Google strengthens its AI-powered search experience, the update aims to make information retrieval faster and more relevant.

The feature operates only after users grant explicit permission to access supported Google services. Consequently, AI Mode can combine web results with personal information to provide responses that reflect upcoming events, reservations, emails, and other relevant details.

Personalized Search Becomes More Contextual

Google designed the integration to reduce the need for users to switch between multiple apps while searching for information. For example, AI Mode can answer questions about travel plans, restaurant reservations, or scheduled events by referencing connected Google services alongside information from the web. Therefore, users receive more complete and personalized responses within a single conversation.

The company emphasized that users remain in control of connected data. Meanwhile, they can choose which Google apps AI Mode may access and can disconnect those services whenever they prefer. Google also stated that personal information accessed through connected apps is handled according to its privacy controls and security standards.

The rollout begins with selected Google services, and the company expects to expand support for additional apps over time. As a result, AI Mode could become a central hub for managing personal information across Google’s ecosystem.

Strengthening Google’s AI Search Experience

The update forms part of Google’s broader strategy to transform Search into an AI-powered assistant capable of understanding both public and personal information. At the same time, the company continues competing with AI-driven search platforms by offering more interactive and conversational experiences.

Google believes that connecting personal applications will make AI Mode more useful for everyday tasks, including planning trips, organizing schedules, and managing daily activities. Consequently, users may spend less time searching across different apps and more time completing tasks through a single interface.

Although the feature requires user consent before accessing personal data, it marks another step toward deeply integrated AI assistants. As Google continues expanding AI Mode, personalized search is expected to become a defining feature of the company’s next-generation search experience.
