Google Rebrands NotebookLM as Gemini Notebook Platform

Google has renamed NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook as part of its strategy to unify AI products under the Gemini brand. Although the name is changing, the application will continue operating as a standalone research and note-taking tool. At the same time, Google plans to integrate it more closely with the Gemini app and Google Search, creating a more connected AI ecosystem.

Users will gradually see the new name and updated branding across web and mobile platforms over the coming weeks. Meanwhile, existing notebooks, shared links, and workflows will continue to function without interruption. Google has also confirmed that administrators do not need to take any action because automatic redirects will preserve existing content.

Gemini Notebook Gains Expanded AI Capabilities

The rebranding follows several major upgrades that have transformed NotebookLM into a more advanced research assistant. For example, users can now run code within a secure cloud environment to analyze data, generate charts, and perform complex calculations directly inside their notebooks. Consequently, the platform supports deeper research workflows for students, professionals, and businesses.

Google is also expanding synchronization between Gemini Notebook, the Gemini app, and Google Search. Therefore, users will be able to access their research more easily across multiple Google services. In addition, the company continues improving AI-generated summaries, multimedia outputs, and collaborative research features.

Part of Google’s Broader AI Strategy

The new branding reflects Google’s effort to bring its AI products under a single identity while strengthening the Gemini ecosystem. As artificial intelligence becomes central to productivity software, Google is positioning Gemini Notebook as its flagship research companion instead of a standalone experimental project.

The platform has grown significantly since its launch as Project Tailwind in 2023, attracting millions of users and hundreds of thousands of organizations. Consequently, Google is investing in deeper integrations that connect research, coding, search, and AI-powered productivity tools within a unified experience.

Although the name has changed, Gemini Notebook continues to focus on helping users organize information, analyze sources, and generate insights. As Google expands its AI ecosystem, the rebranding signals a long-term commitment to making Gemini Notebook a central part of its productivity and research offerings.
