Samsung Launches AI Pet Health Scanner for Galaxy Smartphones

AI pet health analysis app

Samsung has unveiled a new AI-powered pet health screening tool that allows Galaxy smartphone users to check certain pet health conditions using photos. Through a partnership with pet health startup Lifet, the feature expands the use of artificial intelligence beyond traditional smartphone functions and into everyday pet care.

AI Analyzes Pet Health in Seconds

The feature enables users to take a photo of their pet and receive an AI-generated health report through the SmartThings app with the Pet Care service installed. The AI analyzes images to screen for conditions such as dental disease, patellar luxation, and cataracts. As a result, pet owners can receive health insights within seconds.

According to Lifet, the system delivers a detection accuracy of 97%. Furthermore, its diagnostic software for patellar luxation achieved a sensitivity rate of 97.6% and a specificity rate of 98.8% during clinical trials. The technology also received grade-3 medical device approval for animals in South Korea, while the findings were published in the scientific journal Scientific Reports.

However, Samsung has not announced a release date, supported Galaxy device list, or regional availability. Additionally, the company stated that the feature requires neither new hardware nor a subscription.

From CES Debut to European Showcase

The collaboration first appeared at CES 2026 in January, where Samsung demonstrated the AI pet health analysis feature as part of its broader “Your Companion to AI Living” vision. Later, the technology was presented at VivaTech 2026 in Paris, which runs from June 17 to June 20.

At the event, the feature formed part of a wider Connected Care ecosystem. The showcase focused on creating a more connected and accessible healthcare experience through smart devices and AI-driven services.

Moreover, Lifet emerged from Samsung’s external startup incubation program. Therefore, the partnership highlights the company’s strategy of supporting startups whose innovations can later integrate with its broader device ecosystem.

Part of a Broader AI Health Strategy

The pet care feature joins a growing range of AI-powered services designed to position Galaxy devices and SmartThings as central tools for health management. Earlier this month, Samsung launched its “Companion to AI Living” campaign across 58 countries, highlighting AI applications for health, family, and pet care.

At the same time, the company emphasized that the new screening tool is intended to provide preliminary health insights. However, it does not replace professional veterinary diagnosis or treatment.
