Anthropic Hits $965 Billion Valuation, Surpasses OpenAI
Anthropic has secured a $65 billion Series H funding round at a post-money valuation of $965 billion, making it the highest-valued artificial intelligence startup in the world. As a result, the company has moved ahead of OpenAI in overall valuation.
The funding round was co-led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital. Additionally, Capital Group, Coatue, and D1 Capital Partners participated in the investment. The deal concludes a fast-moving fundraising process that began in late April when the company signaled plans to pursue a valuation above $900 billion.
Founded by former OpenAI executives, Anthropic has experienced remarkable growth over the past five years. Just three months ago, the company completed a $30 billion Series G funding round at a $380 billion valuation. Since then, investor demand has accelerated significantly.
Furthermore, part of the latest funding includes previously committed capital from major cloud infrastructure providers. Strategic investors Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron also joined the round. Notably, all three companies recently crossed the $1 trillion market capitalization mark amid growing demand for AI-related memory technologies.
Revenue Growth Fuels Expansion
Strong financial performance has played a key role in supporting Anthropic’s soaring valuation. The company is reportedly on track to generate $10.9 billion in revenue during the second quarter. Consequently, this would mark its first profitable quarter.
That quarterly figure would exceed the company’s total sales for 2025. Moreover, if maintained throughout the year, annualized revenue would approach $44 billion. However, the company’s rapid growth suggests actual performance could be even higher.
Industry observers widely expect this funding round to be Anthropic’s final private raise before pursuing a public listing. Discussions about an initial public offering have reportedly included a potential timeline as early as the fourth quarter of 2026. Therefore, the company appears to be positioning itself for its next major stage of growth.
Anthropic Surpasses OpenAI in Valuation
The new $965 billion valuation places Anthropic ahead of OpenAI’s most recent post-money valuation of $852 billion. Consequently, the competitive landscape among leading AI companies continues to evolve rapidly.
The rise has been particularly striking given the company’s earlier valuation milestones. In September 2025, Anthropic was valued at $183 billion. Since then, investor confidence, revenue growth, and demand for advanced AI technologies have driven one of the fastest valuation increases seen in the technology sector.
