Riyadh digital government innovation center

Saudi Arabia’s Digital Government Authority and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs have signed a letter of intent to establish a UN-affiliated Digital Government Center in Riyadh.

The agreement was signed during the Science, Technology, and Innovation Forum in New York. Through this initiative, both organizations aim to strengthen international cooperation, expand knowledge sharing, and develop global best practices in digital governance.

Additionally, the proposed center will support collaboration between governments and international institutions focused on digital transformation and public sector innovation.

Riyadh Positioned as Digital Governance Hub

The Digital Government Center will support member states through capacity development, policy collaboration, and technology-driven governance initiatives. Moreover, the project reflects Saudi Arabia’s growing role in global digital transformation efforts under Vision 2030.

The center will also focus on artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and future-ready digital systems. Consequently, Riyadh continues strengthening its position as a regional hub for digital innovation and advanced government services.

Furthermore, the initiative seeks to improve digital inclusion and promote sustainable digital development strategies across participating countries.

Initiative Supports Riyadh Declaration Goals

The planned center builds on the Riyadh Declaration introduced during the Internet Governance Forum 2024 hosted in Riyadh. The declaration emphasized stronger international cooperation, responsible AI adoption, and broader digital accessibility.

In addition, the Digital Government Center is expected to support efforts aimed at bridging the global digital divide and improving the quality of life through technology-driven solutions.

The initiative will further encourage sustainable development, environmental responsibility, and economic growth through innovation and higher productivity. Therefore, the partnership marks another major step in advancing global digital governance frameworks and inclusive digital transformation.
