Sony has introduced its latest audio product, the LinkBuds Clip, a new pair of clip-on open-style wireless earbuds priced at about $230 (approximately $229.99 in the United States). These earbuds represent a shift in form factor for the brand, moving away from traditional in-ear designs toward a clip-on solution that sits outside the ear canal. The model joins a broader trend of open-fit earbud designs aimed at combining music listening with awareness of one’s surroundings.
Design and Fit for Everyday Listening
The LinkBuds Clip adopts an always-on clip design that attaches securely behind the ear, allowing ambient sound to mix with audio playback for natural situational awareness. This open-ear concept lets users stay connected with their environment while listening to music or taking calls. In addition, the earbuds offer IPX4 water resistance, making them suitable for daily use and light outdoor activities.
Features and Performance
Battery life reaches up to nine hours on a single charge, with the included charging case extending total use to about 37 hours. The earbuds also support multiple listening modes that can be switched by touch, including a standard mode for general audio and a voice boost mode to enhance speech clarity. Users can customise sound preferences through the Sony Sound Connect app with a 10-band equalizer. Bluetooth multipoint connectivity allows connection with more than one device.
Overall, the LinkBuds Clip provides a comfortable, open-fit option for consumers who prefer less intrusive audio and greater environmental awareness while maintaining solid battery life and versatile connectivity features.
