LG Unveils UltraGear evo Gaming Monitors With AI Upscaling

UltraGear evo gaming monitors lineup

LG unveiled a new UltraGear evo gaming monitor lineup ahead of CES, and the announcement quickly highlighted how AI continues to influence hardware. Even gaming monitors are now part of the broader AI conversation. Overall, the new lineup targets the high end of the market. At the same time, each model centers on a 5K resolution paired with AI upscaling.

While the monitors span different technologies, they share a common performance focus. As a result, the UltraGear evo name connects displays that otherwise look quite different. Together, they signal a push toward sharper visuals without sacrificing speed.

Flagship models and display technologies

The three flagship models are the 39GX950B, 27GM950B, and 52G930B. In each case, the first number reflects the screen size. Meanwhile, the remaining letters and numbers serve as internal identifiers whose meaning is less obvious.

The 39-inch GX9 stands out as an ultrawide 21:9 OLED display. It runs at its full 5K2K resolution at 165Hz. However, it can also switch to 330Hz at WFHD for fast-paced competitive games. By contrast, the 27-inch GM9 uses new MiniLED technology. This approach promises brighter images than OLED while reducing the blooming often associated with MiniLED panels.

The largest option, the 52-inch G9, pushes scale even further. It delivers a massive curved screen with a 12:9 panoramic view. In addition, it reaches 240Hz at its native 5K2K resolution, making it one of the most imposing gaming displays shown so far.

What to expect next

The GM9 model draws particular attention because the same manufacturer supplies panels for Apple’s Pro Display XDR. As a result, speculation has grown that the professional display could see an overdue update soon.

All three UltraGear evo monitors will appear at CES next month. For now, though, pricing and availability remain unannounced. Still, the lineup suggests that high resolution, high refresh rates, and AI-driven enhancements will define the next wave of premium gaming monitors.
