INTRATOMICS and MAGMA Partner to Transform Waste Into Graphene

MoU signing for graphene initiative

A new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed to develop scalable pathways that convert industrial waste into graphene and graphene-related materials. The agreement supports the transformation of industrial byproducts into high-value materials, and it also promotes sustainability across several sectors. Moreover, the collaboration aims to enhance performance and efficiency in manufacturing, construction, petrochemicals, and infrastructure.

The MoU outlines plans to explore solutions that recover, process, and upcycle waste streams such as coke, fly ash, biosolids, and metallic residues. Furthermore, the partnership will push the transition toward a circular economy by turning waste into usable feedstock for advanced materials. This strategic step is expected to create new value chains and strengthen industrial capabilities within the UAE.

The initiative will also highlight how scientific innovation can reduce carbon intensity while supporting sustainable industrial growth aligned with national Net Zero 2050 efforts. Because the focus extends to coatings, composites, filtration systems, lubricants, and structural materials, the collaboration is positioned to impact a wide range of applications across the region.

Turning Industrial Waste Into High-Value Materials

By merging environmental engineering with advanced material science, the partnership intends to produce locally developed graphene-based materials that meet modern industry needs. Additionally, the collaboration will reinforce industrial self-reliance by enabling domestic production of essential advanced materials. These developments will support sectors that rely on improved durability, lighter components, enhanced conductivity, and efficient energy storage.
