
Netflix has announced a partnership with Spotify to stream video podcasts on its platform, expanding beyond traditional movies and TV shows. The collaboration includes popular titles such as The Bill Simmons Podcast, Conspiracy Theories, and The Ringer’s sports-focused programs covering the NFL, NBA, Fantasy Football, and Formula 1. The rollout will begin in the United States in early 2026, followed by an international release later.
Lauren Smith, Vice President of Content Licensing and Programming Strategy, said, “At Netflix, we’re always looking for new ways to entertain our members, wherever and however they want to watch.” This partnership aligns with that goal, offering viewers more variety while strengthening cross-platform engagement.
According to reports, the video podcasts will not appear in full on YouTube, ensuring exclusivity for Netflix viewers. The collaboration enables both platforms to share full video versions of these shows with combined audiences, providing greater reach for creators and richer experiences for fans.
Expanding Entertainment Options for Viewers
This move highlights Netflix’s strategy to broaden its entertainment ecosystem. By introducing Spotify’s video podcasts, Netflix gains a new content dimension that caters to audiences seeking on-demand discussions and interviews rather than scripted series. Additionally, Spotify benefits from greater exposure to Netflix’s global subscriber base, potentially expanding its listener community.
Currently, Netflix already produces several original podcasts related to its shows, including You Cannot Make This Up, Skip Intro, and We Have the Receipts. These programs are available across various platforms, demonstrating the company’s commitment to exploring different formats for storytelling. Moreover, Netflix confirmed that the first wave of video podcasts will not include commercial breaks, maintaining a smooth, uninterrupted viewing experience. However, Spotify’s embedded ads within the podcast content will still play.
