Tensor will unveil the Robocar, the world’s first personally owned Level 4 autonomous vehicle at the Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport 2025. The event marks Tensor’s first public showcase in the Middle East and a major step in its mission to transform personal mobility. Unlike conventional vehicles adapted for autonomy, the Robocar is designed from the ground up as a fully autonomous car.
Equipped with over 100 integrated sensors, including 37 cameras, 5 lidars, and 11 radars, the vehicle is built for maximum safety and visibility. Its architecture ensures redundancy across power, communication, and control systems, allowing for uninterrupted performance even under challenging conditions. The Robocar operates on Tensor’s advanced Foundation Model, which integrates real-world and simulated data with sensor fusion to deliver human-like reflexes and reasoning.
Technology Built for Individuals
Unlike depot-based fleets, the Robocar is designed for personal ownership. It includes intelligent sensor cleaning and protective covers to handle desert conditions, autonomous parking and charging capabilities, and continuous self-diagnosis even when offline. Privacy-first design also plays a central role, with local data storage, encrypted access, and physical safety measures like microphone off-switches and camera covers.
The Robocar features a dual AI system: one optimized for reflexive, split-second responses and another capable of multimodal reasoning for complex, rare scenarios. These systems allow the vehicle to perform like a cautious yet capable driver. Safety compliance remains a priority, with targets that meet or exceed benchmarks set by global regulators such as FMVSS, UN/ECE, Euro NCAP, and US NCAP.
Partnerships, Innovations, and Delivery Timeline
Tensor has partnered with global leaders to bring the Robocar to life. Nvidia provides an onboard supercomputer with 8,000 TOPS, Sony supplies high-resolution cameras, VinFast supports manufacturing, and Oracle contributes cloud infrastructure. Marsh is also backing the vehicle with the world’s first insurance policy designed specifically for Robocars.
Key innovations include the foldable steering wheel, sliding interior display, and privacy-by-design systems. Customers will also experience Dual Mode operation, choosing between being driven or taking control themselves. With deliveries scheduled for late 2026, Dubai is set to play a central role in ushering in a new era of autonomous personal transportation.
