Roblox has temporarily disabled certain communication features in the United Arab Emirates, including in-experience chat. This change follows discussions with the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) and is effective immediately. The measure aims to enhance protections for younger users on the platform.
Enhanced Arabic Content and Moderation Tools
In addition to the chat suspension, Roblox will introduce improved Arabic-language content and new communication moderation tools. These updates complement existing safety features and parental controls. Consequently, the platform strengthens efforts to safeguard children’s digital experiences while ensuring a more inclusive and secure environment.
Supporting Safe Online Experiences
TDRA emphasized that the safety and wellbeing of children online remain a top priority. Parents and guardians are encouraged to actively monitor their children’s activity and use the platform’s reporting tools. Feedback and concerns can also be submitted directly to the regulator.
Roblox, launched in 2006, allows users to design, share, and play games created by the community. The platform remains highly popular among children and teenagers, offering millions of user-generated experiences across multiple genres.
