e& UAE has implemented the GCC’s first Dual-Band 64T64R MetaAAU from Huawei on its live 5G network. This advanced radio unit enhances 5G performance while using less energy and requiring fewer components, resulting in a more sustainable and efficient service across the UAE.

Technology Features and Efficiency Gains

The Dual-Band 64T64R MetaAAU merges two major 5G frequency bands—2.6GHz and 3.5GHz—into a single intelligent unit. This integration halves the equipment needed at mobile sites, reduces hardware requirements, and lowers power consumption by 35 percent.

Smart energy-saving functions, such as symbol-level sleep, further cut energy usage by up to 15 percent during low-traffic hours. With advanced antenna technology, the unit doubles the capacity of conventional setups, housing 384 antenna units instead of 192. As a result, coverage improves significantly, indoor signals strengthen, and connectivity in high-demand areas increases by 30 to 60 percent.

Deployment Advantages and Future Impact
