PlayStation Store interface showing upcoming game releases

This week’s PlayStation lineup may be among the lightest of the year, but a few notable titles are still making their way to players. Although only five new games are arriving on the PlayStation Network Store, the week includes fresh entries in well-known franchises and a variety of gameplay styles to explore.

While the number of releases is small, fans still have something to look forward to. Whether it’s high-octane action, nostalgic collections, or cozy adventures, there’s a bit of everything in this concise release slate.

Biggest Release: Mafia Returns

The standout launch this week is Mafia: The Old Country (PS5 – August 8). This new title in the long-running franchise revisits the series’ dramatic storytelling roots. Although it’s expected to be more compact than earlier entries, its lower price reflects the scaled-down approach. The game aims to deliver a focused narrative experience, maintaining the classic Mafia atmosphere in a fresh setting.

Other Titles Coming This Week

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2 (PS5 – August 5) brings anime fans a new chapter. Players can dive into major story arcs including the Entertainment District, Swordsmith Village, and Hashira Training, offering plenty of fast-paced action.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure (PS5 – August 5) invites players into a warm, open-world experience. With features like puzzle solving, cooking, and character customization, it’s an ideal pick for fans of relaxing exploration games.

Gradius Origins (PS5 – August 7) delivers a robust arcade shooter collection. It includes 18 versions of 7 classic games with new features like save states, rewind, invincibility, and a deep training mode. Retro fans will enjoy the gallery and music options included in this package.

Bonus Content: Battlefield 6 Beta and More

Alongside full releases, Battlefield 6 enters open beta on August 9, with early access beginning August 7. The beta includes crossplay support, allowing players across platforms to join in, even if it’s not full console-wide compatibility yet.

Although this week may be light, more announcements are expected as Gamescom kicks off later in the month. Gamers can expect new titles and updates to be unveiled soon, adding excitement to the horizon.
