He added that Ronaldo had approached the company after researching the company and its products. His investment in Whoop is the biggest ever in any company.

Ronaldo has invested in Whoop as it is expanding into Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain. In addition, Whoop is also exploring Israel, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea as markets. The company already has a warehouse facility in the UAE. It is also extending its shipping services to Brazil, India and Mexico. The new investment will be utilised to boost its engagement with users and develop new products and services. Whoop is also focusing on adding Arabic support to its devices next. Founded in 2012, the company provides training, analytics and measurement of various parameters. In its 8 rounds of funding, the company has raised 405 Million Dollars according to start-up tracker Crunchbase.

Among its most notable investors are Japan’s SoftBank Vision Fund and UAE71 Capital, which invested $200 million and $25 million, respectively, Crunchbase data shows. Whoop is not actively seeking more capital, but options will be revisited in the coming year, Mr Ahmed said. Ronaldo, 39, playing for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, gained international status during his stints at Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.
