The leaks have offered some glimpses into Google’s next budget smartphone. A recent hands-on leak of the phone confirms that the device will feature an upgrade in RAM, as well as a few key design changes. This year’s Pixel 7a is expected to be a significant upgrade over its predecessors, boasting Tensor G2 from the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, wireless charging at 5W, and a camera upgrade that includes a 50MP primary camera, 64MP telephoto camera, and 12MP ultrawide camera.

The device also seems to bear a strong resemblance to the standard Pixel 7, with a similar camera bar design and thicker bezels on the front. According to the leak, the phone will come with a single SIM slot, USB-C for charging, and waterproofing around the SIM tray. Although the phone wasn’t able to fully turn on, the fastboot reveals that it features 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM. The Pixel 7a is expected to be officially announced at Google I/O 2023 on May 10.
