Social media giant Meta has started to roll out non-fungible tokens (NFT) across 100 countries after integrating with Coinbase (COIN) Wallet and Dapper. Meta’s founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, confirmed the rollout in a post on Facebook.
After the social network’s initial NFT test launch in May, the expansion took place. Users and companies in more than 100 countries across Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and the Americas will now be able to share their NFTs on Instagram thanks to this extension.
You must link your digital wallet to Instagram in order to upload a digital collectible there. As of right now, Instagram allows connections with a variety of third-party wallets, including Dapper, Rainbow, MetaMask, Trust, and MetaMask. The supported blockchains include Flow, Polygon, and Ethereum. The social network states that sharing or displaying a digital item on Instagram is free of charge.
Last month, Meta product manager Navdeep Singh said that testing was also underway on Facebook as it aimed to enable cross-platform posting involving NFTs.
According to a report, only a few users in the US had access to the support prior to the extension. According to Mark Zuckerberg, Meta is starting to support non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on its Instagram photo and video-sharing platform globally.
Zuckerberg stated earlier this year that Meta would develop 3D or augmented reality NFTs for Instagram Stories utilizing the company’s software AR technology, Spark AR. The company announced today that it has begun enabling users to share and exhibit their digital artifacts as AR stickers in Instagram Stories. This feature on Instagram allows users to link a digital wallet, share NFTs, and automatically tag a creator and collector for attribution. Instagram users can post NFTs in their feed, stories, or messages. Once they post a digital collectible, it will have a shimmering look and display public information, such as a description of the NFT.
According to Meta, the company’s expansion today reflects its efforts to increase access to web3 technology through NFTs and to enable creators who wish to make money from their work and develop relationships with their followers and collectors.
