269 Tesla cars join Dubai’s Arabia Taxi fleet

Arabia Taxi, owned by The Economic Group, has added 269 Tesla Model 3 electric vehicles (EVs) to its Dubai-based fleet of 6,000 vehicles. The agreement with Tesla Motors, Dubai, supports the plan to convert all of the emirate’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) vehicles to hybrid, electric or hydrogen-powered models by 2027. Arabia Taxi has stated that 83% of its existing fleet are hybrids, and the remaining vehicles will be converted to electric vehicles (EVs). The company is also considering using hydrogen-powered vehicles in the future.

Sheikh Majid bin Hamad Al Qasimi, Chairman of The Economic Group, said that the company is “looking forward to expanding its cooperation with Tesla and several electric car manufacturers, to offer its clients diversified sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation options.” Arabia Taxi aims to be a leader in promoting the transformation of the public and private transport industry towards a sustainable one. The move towards electric taxis is expected to help reduce the environmental impact of commercial activity in the UAE and the region as a whole.

Arabia Taxi is one of several taxi operators under the RTA’s jurisdiction in Dubai. With this agreement, Tesla has added to its growing presence in the UAE, where its Supercharger network already spans the country, and it operates its largest store in the Middle East at The Dubai Mall. The addition of Tesla Model 3s to the Arabia Taxi fleet not only supports the UAE’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions but also reinforces Tesla’s goal to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.
