Dubai Customs recently made an announcement about their new plan to integrate the metaverse into their leadership training programs. This training program is designed to provide customs officials with a better understanding of the Metaverse and help them perform their duties virtually in a more efficient and cost-effective manner.
The goal of this program is to digitize custom operations and increase revenue by utilizing efficient and cost-limiting technology. While digitizing custom operations can be difficult and requires extensive training, the organizers of the program are committed to providing custom officers with a clear understanding of the Metaverse and its potential to improve operations.
The incorporation of metaverse technology into the custom sector can bring about its own benefits and drawbacks, and Dubai Customs has emphasized the importance of using this new technology responsibly. The program has been created in collaboration with the University of Dubai and contains over 3 modules which are Innovative Customs Management, Digitization of Customs Operations, and Agile Leadership.
This leadership development program is part of the Dubai Customs strategic plan for 2021-26 and has already trained over 137 customs employees. The program aligns with the ‘Dubai Metaverse Strategy’ created by the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, which aims to make Dubai a major player in technology.
