Damac’s Saudi Arabian data centre facilities will become operational by the end of 2023

Damac Data Centres, a subsidiary of the Damac Group, will be launching its digital infrastructure facilities located in Riyadh and Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), by the end of 2023. The senior company officials announced this news on February 8th, 2023, during the LEAP 2023 technology event in Riyadh. In addition to the 20 megawatts of IT capacity currently under construction, the company plans to build an additional 35 megawatts. Each facility will have an initial IT capacity of 5 megawatts in the fourth quarter of 2023, followed by a further 5 megawatts in the first quarter of 2024, ultimately reaching a full capacity of 55 megawatts by 2025.

The Dammam and Riyadh facilities are certified by the Uptime Institute as Tier 3 classification, providing highly connected hubs in one of the fastest-growing digital economies in the region. The company has expedited the roll-out of its data centres in response to local and international customer demand. The investments, worth $600 million, are part of Damac’s $1 billion data centre development strategy.

Damac Group Chairman, Hussain Sajwani, emphasized KSA’s strategic location, as it borders more countries than almost any other, making it an ideal hub for connecting across Africa and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

Customers are finalizing agreements to secure all available capacity within these facilities, with deals expected to close before the end of 2023.
